Huangdong Travertine Wall Lamp

The Huangdong Wall Lamp draws on wabi-sabi thinking, where texture and small imperfections matter more than polish. Hand-finished travertine meets warm wood in a compact fixture, 16 cm high and 6.5 cm deep, that sits close to the wall. Because travertine is a natural stone, the pitting and grain differ on every piece, so each lamp is slightly its own. Two finishes are offered, a brown tone and a lighter wood tone.

The design is adjustable, letting you aim the beam at a reading position, a stair tread or a section of wall you want to bring forward. An LED is included and draws between 5 and 7 watts, producing a soft, focused light rather than a broad wash. The lamp runs on 220 to 240 volts and covers a lighting area of roughly three to six square metres, which is well matched to close-range tasks and quiet corners.

It is designed for bedrooms, staircases, corridors and studies where calm, low-level light is more useful than a bright ceiling fixture. A pair either side of a bed works particularly well, keeping bedside tables clear. Installation is hardwired and wall mounted, so a qualified electrician should fit it with the power isolated. Use it indoors in dry areas only, and clean the stone with a soft dry cloth rather than water or chemical sprays.
