Magpie Pendant Light

The Magpie Pendant Light suspends a small bird figure inside a slim lit frame, so the silhouette sits against a ring of light like a line drawing. Two frame shapes are offered, circular and elliptical, and the finishes run from gold to black with gold to silvery, giving five variations in all. Warm white and cold white options let you decide whether the piece feels soft and golden or clean and crisp once it is switched on.

The frame is zinc alloy with an acrylic diffuser, a pairing that keeps the outline sharp while spreading the light evenly along its length. Illumination comes from an integrated 31 watt LED, so there is no bulb to buy or replace and no hot glass shade. The output is smooth and ambient rather than task-bright. The fixture runs on AC 85 to 265 volts, and the 150 centimetre cable can be shortened at installation to whatever drop the ceiling calls for.

Hang one beside a bed in place of a table lamp, above a dining table, over a sideboard, or in a pair to frame a lounge seating area. Installation is a standard ceiling mount and the cable length is set during fitting, which is best carried out by a qualified electrician. Clean the acrylic with a soft dry cloth only, as solvents and abrasive sprays will mark the surface. The pendant is intended for dry indoor rooms and is not suitable for outdoor or wet locations.
