Mono Postmodern Metal Wall Lamp

The Mono Wall Lamp, designed by Marco Bellini, reduces a wall light to its essentials. Clean lines and a strict geometric form give the piece a sculptural quality, so it holds a wall as an object during the day and delivers soft, focused illumination at night. The influence is postmodern with a nod to 1960s industrial design, and the result reads as art as much as lighting. It comes in black, white or a natural iron tone.

The fixture is built from iron with a smooth matte texture, chosen for durability as much as looks. It runs on a 220 to 240V supply with an LED bulb included, covering a comfortable five to ten square metres of ambient light. The finish keeps fingerprints and reflections to a minimum, and the compact profile sits close to the wall, which matters in a hallway or a narrow bedroom where anything deeper would be knocked in passing.

Mono works in a bedroom, along a hallway, in a stairwell or in a living room, and looks deliberate when repeated at even spacing down a wall. It is a hardwired wall mount rated for indoor dry locations, so keep it out of bathrooms and away from exposed outdoor walls, and have a qualified electrician fit it with the circuit isolated. Switch off, let the lamp cool and wipe the metal with a dry, soft cloth.
